Last week, Group2 received three awards at the seventh biennial Urban Design Awards presented by the City of Edmonton. The Urban Design Awards recognize excellence in design in a variety of categories for projects that positively contribute to building spaces where Edmontonians gather, live, work and play.
In the category of Urban Architecture, Group2 was the proud recipient of two awards for Ritchie Market and the Meadows Community Recreation Centre + Edmonton Public Library Branch. These projects met the award criteria by exhibiting a high design standard and a considered relationship to the neighbouring urban fabric.
In particular, the Meadows Community Recreation Centre + Edmonton Public Library Brand was recognized by the jurors for effective programming, a dynamic public interface, and thoughtful features such as the low impact landscape design. At a different scale, Ritchie Market was honored for its good design sense, contribution to community, and raising the bar for future urban development in mature neighborhoods. A highlight of the night, Ritchie Market also took home the People’s Choice Award… Thank you Edmonton!
We aspire to enrich the urban fabric of the cities where we live, work, and play. Our belief in the power of architecture to enhance human experience and build vibrant and resilient communities informs all our work. To be recognized for this endeavour is an incredible honor. While it is gratifying to have our work celebrated by our peers, the greater reward is the outstanding result we achieve collaborating with our clients.
