The Valley Line LRT project (Southeast to West Light Rail Transit) is a 27 km low-floor urban transit line that will run from Mill Woods to Lewis Farms, crossing through Edmonton’s downtown.
The Valley Line West project consists of two elevated stations and 14 at-grade stations. Across elevated stations and surface stops, the platform and shelter elements are integrated into the surrounding public realm, coordinating sidewalk and plaza tie-ins, pedestrian, cycling interfaces, landscaping/streetscape, lighting, CPTED considerations, and accessible routes. This results in each stop functioning as a seamless extension of the street network rather than a standalone object.
The project is being delivered using a Design-Build delivery model, and demanded intensive multi-discipline coordination and stakeholder engagement to balance constructability, maintenance, and operational requirements while maintaining a coherent, system-wide passenger experience.
