Thermëa Whitby is a world‑class wellness destination delivered through an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model, designed to offer an immersive, multi‑sensory thermal journey for up to 700 guests. The spa experience is carefully curated through a sequence of dry and steam saunas, outdoor thermal pools at varying temperatures, cold plunges, icy waterfalls, and cooling features—balanced by a range of distinctive relaxation environments including heated hammocks, fire‑lit pavilions, beach lounges, and flowing water landscapes. Two signature restaurants are seamlessly integrated into the guest journey, each with a unique interior expression aligned with the overall spa concept.
The project required close collaboration with international spa specialists to integrate complex pool and thermal systems, including saltwater floating pools and individualized thermal pools, many introduced in North America for the first time. Through IPD, the team coordinated advanced prefabrication strategies, underground sauna construction, and custom water features while navigating regulatory approvals and supply‑chain challenges. Thoughtful site planning and landscape sequencing preserve sightlines, manage micro‑climates, and support intuitive circulation, while comprehensive back‑of‑house facilities ensure operational efficiency for over 200 staff.
