The Royal Alexandra Hospital Emergency Redevelopment project entailed a complete re-design and renovation of the Emergency Department that included improvements to circulation, security upgrades and the expansion of triage and treatment areas. Group2 worked closely with AHS and numerous supporting personnel to understand project requirements and staff and patient security during Triage and Registration processes. An essential requirement of the project was to create an environment where safety was prioritized equally for staff, patients and visitors.
Through stakeholder sessions and applied user-centric research, Group2 identified and evaluated key issues and inefficiencies of the existing space. The design significantly improves the safety of staff and patients, offers generous waiting areas, and creates sightlines from security to the main waiting area together with clear way-finding for patients and visitors entering the department from points of entry other than the main doors.
