Group2, in partnership with MJMA, designed the Prince Albert Recreation Centre as a new multi-use civic destination that brings together aquatic, arena, and community amenities in a single, highly visible landmark. Envisioned as a welcoming gateway to the city, the facility reinforces Prince Albert’s identity as the “Gateway to the North” while responding to the recreational and social needs of a growing community.
Located on an 18-acre City-owned site, the project features a hybrid building configuration that establishes a central hub for current and future development. The facility is planned to connect via a future +15 system to a 4,500-seat entertainment centre and arena, public branch library, and childcare facility. Building placement prioritizes accessibility and integration with the existing Red River Cart Trail, while allowing flexibility for future phasing and surrounding neighbourhood growth.
Phase 2 of the development will include the entertainment centre and arena to host the Prince Albert Raiders WHL team, along with the library and childcare components, completing a fully integrated civic and recreational precinct.
