The Henderson Outdoor Pool renovation project aimed to rejuvenate a beloved community icon in Southern Alberta. Originally built in the 1960s, the pool had deteriorated and required significant updates. The project team focused on transforming the facility into a modern leisure landmark while preserving its status as a community hub. Catering to patrons of all ages, the pool is situated in a lush park with ample green space and offers a beach-like experience with a zero-depth entry, multiple water slides, spray features, a climbing wall, sun shades, picnic areas, and a dedicated spray park area.
New circulation equipment including filters, pumps, and piping was installed to enhance the pool’s functionality and efficiency. The use of a Myrtha stainless steel tank with a vinyl liner provides flexibility on unstable ground, addressing previous geotechnical challenges caused by water migration from Henderson Lake. Close collaboration with the contractor allowed for an expanded project scope, including enhanced shaded areas and renovated food service facilities, ensuring the Henderson Outdoor Pool remains a cherished community asset for years to come.
