Don Campbell Elementary School embraces 21st Century Learning approaches with a focus on community engagement, flexible learning areas, and a community learning model. The school celebrates the joy of learning through a colourful exterior and interior through material and finishes.
The “Light Spectrum” of Learning
The school is connected to a series of outdoor classrooms and is organized into a series of learning communities around centralized learning commons. A “light spectrum” concept has been broadcast into an external screen that features coloured LED lighting that can be programmed for unlimited illumination patterns.
Collaborative Learning Communities
The school is focused on creating flexible and engaging learning communities. Four distinct classroom pods each contain shared maker space and breakout rooms at the centre allow for team teaching and collaborative learning opportunities. Integration of multiple modular units will allow for fluctuations in student enrollment over time.
