Revitalizing a Community Asset, this project addressed the comprehensive renewal of a 1992 aquatic facility that had reached the end of its service life. Delivered through an Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) model, the work was strategically planned as a two‑phase approach, remediating critical building deficiencies while positioning the aquatic centre for long‑term success and future expansion. Phase I has been successfully completed, with Phase II fully planned and ready to proceed following City of Kamloops approval and funding.
Phase I focused on a full aquatic centre revitalization, including major mechanical and electrical upgrades and a complete building envelope replacement. The renewed façade aligns visually and functionally with the adjacent Tournament Capital Centre, creating a cohesive civic identity with improved branding, accessibility, and street presence. Additional scope realized through the IPD process resulted in brighter, naturally lit interiors, improved air quality, and significantly enhanced accessibility and inclusiveness. The project was delivered ahead of schedule and under budget, despite supply‑chain challenges during the COVID‑19 pandemic.
