One of the most powerful aspects of the facility is its connection with nature. Design elements include slanted columns that mimic the exterior trees, glazing which allows a number of view points to the stunning treed setting outside the building, and full walls of windows ensure people within the space have the perfect backdrop for quiet and reflection. The form of the roof is reminiscent of a tent structure that is pitched in the middle of nature.
A double sided concrete fireplace situated in the ‘living room’ space serves as a dynamic element in the central gathering space, between the library and the Senior’s Centre that invites you to discuss, visit and plan. The library will serve as a show piece and important facility in the Town of Innisfail for many years to come.
The library is expected to open to the public in February 2012.
